About Carabella by Cheryl
Carabella by Cheryl was founded by Canadian jewellery designer Cheryl Borisenko, who personally designs each piece from her studio in Calgary, Alberta. Her approach brings together distinctive materials, thoughtful proportion, comfort, and refined details to create jewellery designed to feel personal rather than trend-driven.
Carabella by Cheryl jewellery is designed and individually assembled by Cheryl Borisenko in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Each piece is created with careful attention to material selection, balance, proportion, comfort, and finish.
Carabella jewellery is designed and individually assembled by hand in Canada using carefully selected components and artisan-made materials. Depending on the design, these may include freshwater pearls, Swarovski® Crystal Pearls, gemstones, Murano glass, fine and sterling silver, gold-filled elements, and other distinctive details.
Some components—such as Murano glass beads—are themselves created by specialist artisans, while Cheryl selects, combines, and assembles the elements that form each finished Carabella design.
Many Carabella designs are created in limited quantities, while selected pieces are genuinely one-of-a-kind. Availability can depend on the gemstones, artisan components, and other distinctive materials used in a design, some of which may be difficult or impossible to source again.
Creating in smaller quantities also gives Cheryl the freedom to explore unusual materials and unexpected combinations rather than designing for mass production.
Jewellery & Materials
Carabella designs bring together freshwater pearls, Swarovski® Crystal Pearls, natural gemstones, Murano and artisan glass, fine and sterling silver, gold-filled elements, and other carefully selected components.
Materials vary by design and are chosen for their beauty, character, colour, texture, and contribution to the finished piece. Complete material details are provided on each product page so you can see exactly what is used in the jewellery you are considering.
Yes. The freshwater pearls used in Carabella jewellery are genuine cultured freshwater pearls. Because they are formed naturally within freshwater molluscs, subtle differences in shape, size, surface, colour, and lustre are part of their individual character rather than imperfections.
These natural variations mean that your finished piece may differ slightly from the photographs while retaining the overall character and design shown.
Swarovski® Crystal Pearls are precision-crafted crystal-core pearls created to offer a beautifully consistent shape, smooth surface, and luminous pearl-like finish.
Carabella uses them in selected designs where their refined appearance, consistency, and range of colours complement the overall composition. They are distinct from cultured freshwater pearls, and product descriptions clearly identify which type of pearl is used.
Carabella works with natural gemstones as well as other carefully identified stone and crystal materials, depending on the design. The materials used in each piece are specified in its product description.
Natural gemstones can vary in colour, pattern, inclusions, translucency, and shape. These characteristics are part of the individuality of the material and mean that no two stones—or finished pieces—will be precisely identical.
Murano glass is artisan glass associated with the centuries-old glassmaking tradition of Murano, Venice, Italy. Selected Carabella designs feature handcrafted Murano glass beads chosen for their colour, artistry, and individual character.
Because artisan glass is made by hand, subtle variations between beads may occur and are part of what makes each piece distinctive.
Your jewellery will reflect the design, materials, proportions, and overall character shown in the product photographs, but pieces containing natural or artisan-made materials may have subtle variations.
Freshwater pearls, gemstones, Murano glass, and other handcrafted elements can vary naturally in colour, pattern, shape, surface, or detail. These differences are part of their individual character and make each finished Carabella piece uniquely its own.
Sizing & Fit
For the most comfortable fit, measure your wrist where you normally wear a bracelet and allow additional room based on how closely or loosely you prefer it to sit.
Because bracelet construction and bead size can affect fit, please review the sizing information provided on the individual product page before ordering. For step-by-step measuring instructions, visit our Bracelet Size Guide.
Many Carabella necklaces include an extender or adjustable design, while others are created at a fixed length. The exact necklace length and adjustability are listed on each product page so you can choose the design and fit that work best for you.
Sizing options vary by design. Some Carabella pieces may be available in different sizes or may be adjustable, while the construction or materials of other designs may limit alterations.
If you need a size that is not shown on the product page, please contact us before ordering and we'll let you know whether an adjustment is possible for that particular design.
Jewellery Care
Care requirements vary depending on the materials in your piece. As a general rule, keep jewellery away from perfume, hairspray, lotions, household chemicals, and prolonged exposure to moisture, and remove it before swimming, bathing, exercising, or sleeping.
After wearing, gently wipe your jewellery with a clean, soft cloth before storing it. For recommendations specific to freshwater pearls, Swarovski® Crystal Pearls, gemstones, Murano glass, sterling silver, gold-filled elements, and other materials, visit our Jewellery Care Guide.
Store your Carabella jewellery separately in a dry, protected place to help prevent scratching, tangling, and unnecessary contact between different materials.
Pearls, gemstones, artisan glass, and finished metals can have different levels of hardness and surface sensitivity, so individual pouches or separate compartments in a lined jewellery box are ideal.
Do not use a jewellery cleaner unless it is specifically suitable for every material and finish in the piece. A cleaner that is safe for one material may damage another, particularly in jewellery combining pearls, gemstones, plated or filled metals, crystal, or artisan glass.
Avoid abrasive cleaners, and do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaning unless every material and decorative treatment in the piece has specifically been confirmed as suitable. When in doubt, follow the material-specific recommendations in our Jewellery Care Guide or contact us before cleaning.
